Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacists

The Mission of the Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacists is to support its members by advocating for the pharmacy profession and promoting safe and appropriate medication use.  OSHP and the local Cleveland chapter support the ongoing development of your pharmacy practice by offering the following:

• Focus on Ohio pharmacy practice
• Local and statewide network of pharmacy professionals
• Continuing education programs
• Formulation of professional practice position statements
• Legislation tracking, testimony, and updates
• Participation in pharmacy practice rules development and review
• Participation opportunities in OSHP House of Delegates and Divisions
• Representation in ASHP House of Delegates and on ASHP Councils
• Informative and dynamic website and bulletins

The American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy recently published the “Top Ten Reasons to Become a Pharmacist”  (http://www.aacp.org/site/tertiary.asp?TRACKID=&VID=2&CID=686&DID=6340).

2. I like to work directly with patients.
3. I enjoy a wide variety of career opportunities.
4. I can benefit from the increased demand for pharmacists.

6. I can have job mobility, stability, and flexibility.
7. I am excited to be a part of the major innovations in drug therapy.
8. I want to work with state-of-the-art technology.
9. I can help defend against bioterrorism.
10. I would like to be a highly respected member of my community.

As you were reading through the list, I hope that it contained many of the same reasons why you became a pharmacist or are training to become a pharmacist.  What’s on your Top Ten List for being a pharmacist and a member of OSHP?  Think about it. 

OSHP supports you by providing numerous educational and networking opportunities.  OSHP represents your interests with legislators and regulatory agencies.  Your membership is important to OSHP for the knowledge you can share with the organization to develop common positions regarding important issues facing health-system pharmacists.  Your membership is important to OSHP in order for our profession to continue to improve the care we provide to the patients we serve.  Thank you for being a member of OSHP!
